Three cause-of-death indicators reach us through the World Bank's redistribution of WHO data. The World Bank's CC BY 4.0 grant covers its redistribution; it does not make WHO's own database openly licensed. We therefore use the redistributed series and do not query WHO directly.

Questions this page answers

Can I use this data commercially?
The derived dataset is CC BY 4.0, so yes, with attribution. The underlying sources are CC BY 3.0 IGO and CC BY 4.0, both of which permit commercial use with attribution.
Are your figures UN-published statistics?
No. Values aggregated and derived by Eighth Billion are our own; the sources are named and the derivations are shown on the page that displays them.
How often is the data updated?
When the UN or the World Bank publishes a new release. Every update is recorded in the changelog with the version it replaces, and archived lives keep the data version they were played under.
